Five awe-inspiring art and photography apps for your smartphone used by Imbue’s own Designer & Illustrator, Michael Olson. Read why they are the cream of the crop, in Michael’s words.
Hipstmatic
This camera app is best for those who understand photography and want to be able to customize their photos because they know different films and lenses. Combine all of the Effects for unlimited outcomes.
Other perks: order real analog prints delivered to your door right from the app
Available for $1.99 on the App Store.
Snapseed
Made by Google+. This app has a drama filter that’s pretty cool because it brings out the minute detail of the image. It takes a boring picture and makes it important, dramatic.
Other perks: adjust selective parts of your image; share socially or via email.
Available for Free on the App Store.
PicFrame
Frames a bunch of photos together, up to 9 in a single frame actually. The app offers a decent amount of filters, but I use the other apps to create the effects I want and then drop them in to the collage on this app.
Other perks: 73 adjustable frames plus text labels; also frames videos.
Available for $0.99 on the App Store.
LoryStripes
Stripes and lines overlay your images to create new worlds. Change their color and angle to create a 3-dimensional effect. The possibilities are endless.
Other perks: Mask feature lets you weave stripes between elements of your photo
Available for $1.99 on the App Store.
Fragment
Turn your photo into a kaleidoscope, a series of glass prisms, and inverted space, all with their features. Not sure which of the many to use? Hit shuffle and watch it turn into a work of art before your eyes.
Other perks: Tag them in your work of art and have a shot at them reposting your piece to their Instagram account – e.g., Instafame.
Available for $1.99 on the App Store.
